Innovative STEAM Education for Young Learners
AFM serves as the pilot school for an innovative, kindergarten-specific STEAM program (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math). This program is developed by New Edge Science Academy™ and MakerFlo Crafts™ and is offered to AFM kindergarten students at no additional cost to parents. We concentrate on three fundamental areas: density exploration, hydro dipping art, and the scientific method.
In density exploration, children learn about density by investigating the weight and buoyancy of different objects. The children build on their knowledge by applying different stimuli to evaluate the effects on buoyancy. Hydro dipping art immerses kindergartners in creativity, allowing them to create distinctive patterns on various items using water and paint, fostering self-expression and enhancing fine motor skills. Through the scientific method, we introduce children to the joy of inquiry and experimentation, teaching them to formulate questions, develop hypotheses, and conduct simple experiments to cultivate their curiosity and passion for science. The scientific method facilitates critical thinking skills by providing a structured approach to analyzing information, questioning assumptions, evaluating evidence, and drawing conclusions based on data, essentially encouraging a thoughtful and objective evaluation of information rather than relying on biases or personal opinions.
